About Cargill in Turkey

Cargill has been active in Turkey since 1960 through a local partnership agreement and commenced trading as Cargill in 1986. The company now has 280 employees in six locations in Turkey - in Baglarbasi-Istanbul, Yarımca, Orhangazi, Pendik Vanikoy, Andana and Ankara.

The Cargill Turkey head office, which opened in 1992, is located in Istanbul. Cargill operates in four major sectors – food, finance, oilseeds and steel.

Cargill has activities in the following areas in Turkey:

  • Production and sales of starch and starch derivatives
  • Grain and oilseed trading
  • Trading and distribution of steel mill consumables and products
  • Value investment

Recent Cargill investments in Turkey

2002 Cargill acquired Cerestar - a leading provider of starch and starch derivatives – and with it Cerestar’s 50 percent shareholding in Pendik Industry (PNS) and its corn wet milling plant in Istanbul.
2000 Cargill commences production at its wet corn milling facility in Orhangazi
1999 Cargill began operating a grain storage silo and port facilities in Yarimca in cooperation with Rota Denizcilik ve Ticaret A.S.
